NEET UG examination saw a record 24 lakhs of registration for the academic year 2024. This has been the 9th year surge in a row for the registration process. The NEET UG application is mainly for medical/ dental and allied health programs. With 6000 new seats in Government Medical Colleges, there may be a tiny reduction in the competition.

In the 2024 session, the examination records 3 lakhs extra registrations in comparison to last year’s data. In 2017, the number of NEET UG registrations crossed the 10 lakhs mark and it has been soaring high since then. However, this year is the highest in the last seven years. During the COVID period, the number of NEET UG registrations was around 16 lakhs. However, this examination saw a steady surge in the post-COVID era.
