NEET UG 2026 examination is over. The result has been published. The much-awaited NEET counselling is knocking on the door. So, the real battle of getting your desired MBBS seat is about to begin. Every year, lakhs of students clear NEET, but only a few get admission. This disparity never comes from lack of talent; rather, it is a shortfall of strategy and guidance. A missed deadline, wrong choice selection, and locking or documentation errors can cause fatal consequences during NEET counselling. An MBBS seat that was within reach sometimes glides away.
We have been supporting students for a decade, and we have the data that paints the real picture clearly. Admissions came from different regions of West Bengal unevenly. Each district comes up with its own NEET story, anxiety, struggles, and an indomitable spirit to make it to the end. This blog breaks down where those students came from, their district profile, what Pice Educare has done to reach them, why our founder founded this organization, and, lastly, what other options are available if one misses their seat in West Bengal.
From our decade-old data, we come across a finding that the top 5 districts of West Bengal dominated our admission story. Not Kolkata- the bustling city of joy. These are students from smaller, remote parts of the mighty state. They all have different agony, tensions, but again they all have the lion’s heart to conquer every odd and become the winner. Let us pick at the data and what story each district holds.
Malda
The NEET story of Malda is exceptional. Every year, the district witnesses good NEET rank and score holders. However, the town simply lacks guidance that a student would need in their language. However, many of them search for guidance and come out as winners.
Murshidabad
Murshidabad is home to the largest number of NEET aspirants in North Bengal. The students are disciplined, hard-working, and dedicated. And we have a special connection with this district-revealed later in the blog.
Medinipur
Medinipur- the land of Vidyasagar has always been a centre of knowledge. The district is known for its scientific intellectuals. Though the students scored well in the NEET exam, they lack a choice-filling strategy and strategic guidance.
South 24 Parganas
Distance from Kolkata and limited access to counselling strategy and guidance often lead these students to rely on oral advice and rumors, which are obviously outdated and not clear.
Siliguri
Siliguri, the gateway to North Bengal, is one of the districts with highly ambitious students. They also face a lack of strategic guidance and are often left confused.
A student living in Malda need not travel all the way to Kolkata just to understand the counselling procedure or seat matrix. Pice Educare wants to reach them in their town, and with this aim, they carried their desk to give a clear idea about NEET counselling and MBBS admission guidance.
We organized the Pice EduFair 2026 in Malda, where students walked in with confusion and dreamy eyes and walked out with a list of shortlisted medical colleges and a crystal clear idea of counselling. We also organize separate EduFairs at Bankura, Rampurhat, Suri, and Durgapur and plan to organize as many if students feel helpful with it. Five seminars with a single goal only: to provide a clear pathway to MBBS admission for the students and their families.
As we were organizing our Pice EduFair in Berhampore, Murshidabad, the counselling session, the district itself felt so close, personal. The district is the home of our founder, the birthplace where the dream of bringing guidance to every corner of the country and catering to every meritorious mind was shaped. So, organizing an Edufair there is not a calendar task for us, but rather a wonderful chance to honour the idea all the more.
Our founder, Mr. Basiruddin Shaikh, came from Plassey, Murshidabad — a small, historic corner of rural Bengal, far from the coaching hubs and consultancy offices of Kolkata. He started his career as a teacher. His way of presenting real-life examples in simple, layman's language has made him popular among his pupils. He has a great power of understanding the complexities of the human mind and is very quick to untangle those knots with his clear solutions. As a teacher and a rural-born, he understood the issues of rural students in getting higher education. He himself felt the need for guidance while aiming for something great in life. Also, he noticed that hospitals do not have doctors as required. He saw many patients die without primary care due to a lack of caregivers. This also moved him deeply and made him think why there is a shortage of Doctors while the country carries too many meritorious minds. He realized not because these exceptional minds gave up learning medicine due to a lack of potential, but rather that there is no one to guide them. Some of the great minds do not even know about NEET or what follows after. Basir sir understood the problem and found a way to fix this. Later, he built this organization solely dedicated to helping those who could make the country proud. His relentless energy and dedication to change the way medicine is practiced have now become the refuge for many medical aspirants. Under his just leadership, Team Pice Educare has been trying hard to make every candidate's journey from NEET rank to wearing the white coat a reality.
Getting a seat after NEET in West Bengal sometimes becomes difficult. High cut-off or budget issues could lead to not getting a seat. However, that should not stop anyone from pursuing medicine. If you are unsure about India, then you always have the option to study MBBS in Bangladesh. Over the years, Bangladesh has become a favourite destination for MBBS among Indian students. The degree is fully recognized by NMC, so there is no tension about anything. The tuition fee and living cost are also affordable. Being a neighbouring country, students feel less homesick, or they can visit their parents anytime. MBBS in Bangladesh for Indian students has truly opened an alternative door.
Whether a student is chasing a state-quota seat through WBMCC, competing for the 15% All India Quota through the national counselling body, or seriously considering MBBS in Bangladesh, the process punishes small mistakes. A missed document. A wrong choice order. A seat lost in the stray round because nobody explained how it worked.
Pice Educare exists to remove exactly that risk. We help with medical college shortlisting based on real rank data, complete documentation support, seat-matrix reading, choice-filling strategy, and — where a student chooses to look abroad — visa guidance and pre-departure support for abroad admissions.
