Each state has its own medical counselling authority such as WBMCC, KEA, CET Cell, DME, etc. They regulate counselling procedures and release their own counselling schedule. For state counselling, candidates must have a clear idea about state domicile rules and open vs. closed state policies during NEET UG counselling 2026. Let us understand these two quickly.

  • Open vs. Closed State Policies: Open and closed states determine if a non-domicile students can apply for medical courses in the respective state’s government or private medical colleges. An open state allows a non-domiciliary to participate in Management quota during state counslling where as closed state restricts the same.
