MBBS in Nepal for Indian Students 2026: Fees & Eligibility

If you want to study medicine outside your country but feel homesickness or miss your family, then MBBS in Nepal is your one true call. MBBS in Nepal for Indian students is a great choice if you are looking for quality medical education in your neighbourhood. However, before applying, you must know all the important aspects that should be considered for making informed decisions.

In this blog, we will discuss 5 things every Indian student should know before choosing MBBS in Nepal. From eligibility to recognition to fees, we have covered all the important things that student-parents might get confused about.

Eligibility

Are you applying to the top medical colleges of Nepal? Firstly, you have to understand the eligibility criteria. Your profile should match their selection rules. Here is the eligibility criteria:

  • Must score a minimum of 50% marks in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates need at least 45% marks in PCB
  • Must have qualified NEET UG (Mandatory)
  • Must be 17 years or above by 31st December of the admission year
  • Must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board
  • Must be medically fit

Aspirants are advised to go through the eligibility details and apply accordingly.

Recognition

Worried that your medical degree would not be valid in India? Thinking if you can practice in India after completion of your course? Do not worry, the medical colleges are recognized by NMC and WHO. So, your degree is valid all over the world. And yes, you can practice in India as well. Furthermore, because Nepal's hands-on training closely mirrors the Indian healthcare ecosystem, it serves as an excellent training ground for the upcoming NExT (National Exit Test), which will act as the uniform licensing exam for all medical graduates practicing in India.

Fees

MBBS in Nepal offers premium medical education with a similar syllabus to that of India. In comparison to Indian private medical college fees, Nepal provides some financial relief. However, it is more expensive than any other Central Asian country. The minimum cost to pursue MBBS in Nepal is 60 lakh. Also, you would need some documents on hand before applying to MBBS in Nepal.

Here is the list of documents:

  • 10th Marksheet & Certificate
  • 12th Marksheet & Certificate
  • NEET Scorecard
  • Recent passport-size photos
  • Medical Certificate (fitness)
  • Address & Identity Proof
  • Admission Registration Letter

Clinical exposure

As a neighbouring country of India, there is a striking similarity in patient profile and disease pattern. So students can gain valuable clinical exposure in Nepal. The patient flow is also large, and most of them understand Hindi. So, no need to learn any other languages.

Lifestyle

Students can expect more or less the same lifestyle as in India. Indian food is also available. Also, there is a strong community of Indian students, so that you would feel less homesick. The medical college campus is huge and has hostel facilities. To know more about MBBS in Nepal, Click Here.
